1950 Tanner Jointer Restore
My Brother-in-law came to me with an old rusty jointer that he was thinking of selling for scrap metal. One look at this old machine and I immediately offered him a few Rands for it. I thought it would be a great restoration project as all parts was still intact and since I do not have a 6" jointer it might just be a "good" buy. In a process like this WD40 is always my go-to product for loosening rusted parts and lubrication to the final moving parts. Plain WD40 for loosening, rust removal and WD PFTE Dry lubricant for the final moving parts as it collects minimal to no dust while working with the machine. I use the dry lubticant on all my woodwoorking machines by the way! Here are a few photos of the process and the final product which I use almost on a daily basis! You got to love these old machines, they built them so robust those days. Imagine me doing woodwork with a machine from the 1950's... 25 years older than me! Thank you for a fantastic product! Being a avid dirtbiker too, with my sons, WD40 is a household name to all of us!
